Idiots and idiosyncracies

English is a very idiosyncratic language; especially when idiots (self-proclaimed) like me use it. Here is an example;

Me: Time for spot of lunch

Thai friend: Spot of lunch... ?

Me: It's just a turn of phrase.

Thai friend: Turn of phrase... ?

Me: Never mind.

Thai friend: Never mind what?

Me: I am going to have lunch. Are you coming ?

Thai friend: Of course, I am very hungry..

Me: Facepalm.
